Den if by some miracle, you get both funded AND published…your work go likely spend the rest of its days behind paywall.

So most students or anybody way need your work for guidance or information no go fit access your work if they no guide financially.

DeSci dey try fix dat by becoming the ‘GoFundMe’ for scientific research.

1. You pitch your idea.

2. Individuals/entities fit choose to fund am in small or large amounts (instantly).

3. You start/complete your research.

4. E go get published/peer reviewed openly/globally.

5. Anybody fit build new ideas based on your work.

the key ingredients here be speed and openness.

E be the same secret sauce behind the internet. For example:

• To build big brand before dem invent internet = go school -> get certificate → think of business idea → get loan from bank/family → find brick and mortar space → launch → scale, scale, scale → launch overseas.
• After Internet come nko? = think of business idea → watch some YouTube videos on how to launch → open Shopify account → boom, you dey sell globally.

Now, The problem be say the pre-internet don prove itself and we know say e dey work, whereas the post-internet way fit no work and e dey risky

Same go for DeSci research, you fit:

• Generate interest on bad idea
• Get enough support to fund am through blockchain and publish am onchain
• Get people way no too de qualified to peer review am…

…at the end of the day, e go still be bad idea (so DeSci go need to build one confirm robust reputation system).

Yes – DeSci get the potential to do great things, by massively increasing the speed and openness of scientific research…
